This is one of the best experiences we had with helpx! We meet a CS ambassador in Hualien, Jessie who liked the idea of helping, actually helped herself with the project that wasn’t listed on HelpX. We ended up at her friend’s hostel and agreed on helping out with his second hostel renovations, while Jessie and Allen joined HelpX as a new host. So , that is a real “made in Taiwan” helpX 😉
Hualien is a stunning place – you will fall in love with its natural beauty, cheap, delicious food and super friendly people!
I mean really, just look at the pictures:
And the project itself – where should I start?
Allen and Jessie are super friendly, they extremely appreciate all your efforts and never push you too much. The working hours and conditions are very fair and leave you a lot of time (and energy thanks to day on/day off schedule) to explore the breathtaking surroundings.
Our hosts were really interested in creative suggestions but there’s a lot of labor work to be done as it’s still the beginning.
After all the brainstorming and sharing design and brand name/concept ideas for the new hostel, we are so curious about its future look and vibe. Luckily we are updated by our hosts and friends every now and then! This time our already booked flight tickets to next destination didn’t allow us to stay longer but we hope to be back at the later stage of the project. We are missing Hualien, Allen & Jessie and all the Bubble Tea Country a lot! Taiwanese are a great bunch of people, especially those guys at The Bottle are 🙂
Accomodation is superb – The Bottle is a creative place, tidy and homey with lovely people (guests are mostly Asians).
It sure is a wonderful place to help at, with reasonable and open minded hosts. We highly recommend this project to every traveler! It became our Asian home for those few weeks and friends we made will stay in our hearts forever 🙂 Xièxiè!!
